Piloting
On May 13th, 2025 the Water Quality Control Commission (WQCC) made a decision that changed how applicants can apply for a permit for testing of produced water. The current process involved submitting a Notice of Intent (NOI) to the New Mexico Environmental Department, and a revised process will be updated on the nmpwrc.nmsu.edu website by the end of July 2025.

Help create policies and rules for using treated produced water in New Mexico.
-
Support policies that keep people and the environment safe.
-
Study the possible risks and effects of reusing produced water.
-
Serve as an example for the rest of the United States.
